What are Antiwrinkle Injections?

Botulinum Toxin Type A is derived from the bacteria Clostridium Botulinum – brand names include Botox®, Dysport® and Xeomin® - but there is no bacteria in it at all.  At Project Physique, we use mostly Dysport® or Xeomin® because of the great results they have.
Please note that this page informs you of how Botulinum Toxin A (BTX) works and that prior to treatment, a consultation would be required with our experienced and qualified Registered Nurse to determine suitability. We will discuss treatment options that will encompass the problems and specific areas of concern that you may have.

BTX may not be the most appropriate treatment for the concerns that you may have and this will be discussed in depth at the consultation stage. Rest assured that we believe in natural looking face and not "frozen" face.   A fresher looking face is what we aim for.

Treatable areas with Dysport® :

- Glabellar Lines (Frown)
- Crow’s Feet Line
- Brow Lift (using Glabella and Crow’s Feet combined)
- Bunny Lines (wrinkles alongside the nose between the eyes)
- Down-turned smile (corner lip lift)
- Gummy smile
- Dimpled Chin

Results can vary from person to person and are not guaranteed.

What is Botulinum Toxin A and What Will it do?

Dysport® and Xeomin® uses pharmaceutical grade, purified proteins that deliver very predictable results, accurately and with very few potential side effects.

BTX works by blocking neurotransmitters in the target muscles which reduces the strength of muscle contraction. This is help reduces or smooth out wrinkles caused by muscles folding the skin over and over again (eg. Crow’s feet around the eyes, forehead lines), causing crinkling the overlying skin.

By injecting small amounts of this material, the muscle contraction is relaxed and the overlying skin smooths out.  This material can also be used for therapeutic applications, such as night-time tooth grinding, as it relaxes the overactive muscles of the face contributing to the problem.

Your treatment could involve aesthetic or therapeutic applications depending on your needs.  Treatment results will not start to take affect for 3-7 days and are temporary, lasting between 3-6 months before normal function returns completely.

What are Potential Side Effects or Complications?

Injections of Botulinum Toxin have very predictable and reliable outcomes with few side effects. The treatments themselves are temporary by nature, with any effects completely wearing off with time.
